Harvard professor failed to disclose (Monsanto) connection

A Harvard Kennedy School professor wrote a widely disseminated policy paper last year in support of genetically modified organisms at the behest of seed giant Monsanto, without disclosing his connection, e-mails show. Monsanto not only suggested the topic to professor Calestous Juma. It went so far as to provide a summary of what the paper should say and a suggested headline.

Whole Foods ends practice of selling cheese made with prison labor... after getting caught and exposed

Whole foods has decided to end the practice of selling food that was made using prison labor, but not out of the kindness of their heart. A demonstration in Houston, Texas, led to the decision, and it was only after this bad press that Whole Foods finally decided that using indentured labor to sell artisanal products was probably not the most ethical business practice.

Rates of depression and anxiety among young people in America have been increasing steadily for the past 50 to 70 years. Today, by at least some estimates, five to eight times as many high school and college students meet the criteria for diagnosis of major depression and/or anxiety disorder as was true half a century or more ago. This increased psychopathology is not the result of changed diagnostic criteria; it holds even when the measures and criteria are constant.
